HeatNMof Project
The HeatNMof project begins, in which RTDI supports the tasks of coordination, dissemination and training.

What does it consist of?
It is an innovative EU training network of promising young researchers, offering the next generation of materials in nanomedicine.
On March 31, the launch of the project took place remotely, presenting the projects of Early Stage Researchers and the selection process, which are currently underway.
Want to know more about HeatNMof?
The project HeatNMof is funded by the European Framework Programme for R&I, Horizon 2020. Under the title “Heating-activated drug release from organic inorganic-metallic nanometric structure compounds”, the idea is to implement a new innovative EU training network of young and promising researchers in the area, who have an MSCA grant (Marie actions). Skłodowska-Curie).
The objective of these networks is to train a new generation of researchers in the initial phase, creative, entrepreneurial and innovative, capable of facing current and future challenges, and turning knowledge and ideas into products and services of economic and social benefit.
The project is coordinated by Dr. Patricia Horcajada, from the IMDEA Energy Institute (Madrid, Spain), and was launched on March 1, 2020. HeatNMof will train the next generation of materials scientists in nanomedicine who are harnessing the full potential of nanotechnology, developing precisely miniaturized drug delivery ‘missiles’ targeting tumors for destruction.
HeatNMof signifies a breakthrough beyond state-of-the-art drug delivery vehicles, with special emphasis on metal-inorganic organic structure (MOF) compounds, one of the most promising vehicle classes due to their unique properties including versatility, high drug loading efficiency, and precise local and temporal control of administration.
The HeatNMof project consortium brings together the 10 best European institutions (3 industrial companies, 3 research centres and 4 academics) from Spain (IMDEA Energy, Universidad Santiago de Compostela, Nanoscale Biomagnetics SL and ISERN Patentes y Marcas M SL), France (Centre National de la Recherche Scientifique), Belgium (University of Antwerp), Italy ( Fondazione Istituto Italiano di Tecnologia), Germany (University of Hamburg) and United Kingdom (Immaterial Labs LTD).
In total, this network will recruit 12 early-stage researchers who will be trained in a highly interdisciplinary and cross-sectoral research environment over the next 4 years. Don’t miss the opportunity to revolutionize the way diseases are treated – Applications on Euraxess (link1, link2).

“We are looking forward to starting with the students and doing science together” – Dr. Patricia Horcajada, HeatNMof Coordinator
