Marsi Bionics in collaboration with RTDI obtains funding from the Ministry of Economy and Competitiveness

MARSI BIONICS, an SME with a high social impact in the development of innovative therapies for the health sector, obtains with the collaboration of RTDI a financing from the Ministry of Economy and Competitiveness worth more than € 120,000.

For the first time, since in 2014 the Framework Programme for Research and Innovation of the European Union, Horizon 2020, launched a call of high competitive level and especially dedicated to SMEs, the Ministry of Economy and Competitiveness offered in July 2015 aid to rescue those SMEs that, having submitted to Phase I of the European SME Instrument,  had been evaluated by the European Commission with a score equal to or greater than 12 out of the maximum 15 points, and that for budgetary reasons could not be financed.

The objective of this national call, Horizonte Pyme, is to finance a feasibility study including a business plan of an innovative project to the aforementioned SMEs.

This is the case of MARSI BIONICS, selected to receive a grant of more than € 120,000. This SME and its projects are directly involved in innovation, mainly focused on improving the performance of current exoskeletons for private use at home.

The differential technology of MARSI BIONICS is the controllable rigidity drives.  Making use of this, it personalizes gait therapy, adapting to the needs of each patient and providing optimized physical therapy for a number of neurological disorders that cause musculoskeletal complications. Therefore, it makes it especially dedicated to children, in constant growth, affected with neuromuscular diseases, cerebral palsy, spina bifida or spinal cord injury.

The evaluation received by the proposal presented within the European framework exceeded the threshold necessary to obtain funding, 13 points, but due to the high demand and competitiveness mentioned above of this call, they did not manage to receive the grant.  However, at the national level, the impact of MARSI BIONICS projects has been highly valued, giving it a score of 14 out of 15.

This aid allows MARSI BIONICS to boost its potential growth, supporting the market launch of its products.
