Discovery Learning: New RTDI project underway

Discovery Learning: New RTDI project underway

We are pleased to announce that the Discovery Learning Project began in December 2020!

These are innovative methodologies that aim to effectively train transferable skills related to open science and innovation for the next generation of researchers and PhD candidates.

Discovery Learning is a project founded under the European R&I Framework, Horizon 2020. Under the title: “Effective training of transferable skills related to open science and the innovation for PhD candidates and early-stage researchers”, the main purpose is to experiment towards proof of concept of a new model to implement participatory, empowered and evolutionary work-based learning in PhD programmes to effectively train transferable skills related to open science and innovation,  as well as to build actionable knowledge for future scalability and sustainability of outcomes and traceable lifelong learning. These activities are carried out in the doctoral programmes of the University of Oslo (Uio).

The project is coordinated by Eva García Muntión (CEO and Managing Partner of RTDI and founder of RTDI Innovation School). The kick-off meeting took place on December 14, 2020. The knowledge generated during the project will be widely disseminated among relevant stakeholders in the form of a white paper and best practices, maximizing the impact on the design of future learning curricula.

The first steps are focused on designing a target transferable skills ontology so that training needs can be discovered and effective techniques can be chosen for professional development programs. These skills are highly demanded by job markets and can create great potential for professional and personal growth. The Consortium is also working on the definition of specific and more relevant hypotheses and related quality control criteria, and the design of detailed piloting protocols to begin testing and validating Discovery Learning methodologies.

The Discovery Project Learning brings together renowned experts in different areas: innovation school and R&I professionals (research, technology, development and innovation), doctorates in science and engineering (University of Oslo), internationalization of education in research organizations (Slovak Academic Information Agency) and science. and promotion of innovation by bringing them closer to the general public (Spanish Foundation for Science and Technology).
